Hi Ellie,

If the weather/heat breaks Sam and I will be hiking in the Wald early Sunday. Join us if you feel like it. Give a shout at 8-9ish, I will let you know where Sam and I will be starting from and the time. If the heat really breaks we may go later to catch a couple of Wald Heurigens which open 15-16:00.

BBQ on Sat may not happen due to the heat and impending Storms. Also note Sam is my avatar.

Truly wish you were here this weekend, it would be a great. Sam would have at least a number of tail wags.

Thanks for letting me know that the BBQ is cancelled.
I wish I can go sunday morning, I have appointment to view an apartment at 11:00
But I would love to meet for Heuringen. I heard about it. I live in 19th district.
Maybe Sunday afternoon, I can meet you somewhere ?

Every other weekend I'm back to amsterdam. So, if you interested, we can go sept 10/11th ? since I'm new, any location is fine as long as reachable by public transport. I have no car here.

Good Morning Dupree,

I am getting a late start this morning and going off the end of Severringer (39A) in the direction of the Kahlenberg and the Heurigers below. If you want to join Sam and I please give a call at my number. We are going to be starting sometime around 12:00. It is now cool enough for a midday start time.

Morning Snowdog -- Would love to go if we could make it 12.30. I'm afraid I don't have your number anymore, though. I just sent you an email with mine. Or, pm me here. Hope to catch you both, cheers.

Hi guys!

I am new in the forum. I am 33 and I have just registered because I am looking for hiking buddies. I live in Vienna since January 2011. I am aware that this post is a bit old but are you still interesting in stretching the legs sometime? :)

I am looking forward to your replies.

I am also interested in hiking! If you know the hiking in the areas outside Vienna, I suggest organizing a small event and posting it for others to join :-) I have also spent a little over a year in Vienna but have not done much exploring in the forests and hills outside the city.

Hi Dancing Queen,

Unfortunately, I do not know Vienna's contryside nor its hills so I cannot make any suggestions :( However, we could try to do some reasearh on the Internet in order to find a nice place not too far away from the city. I mean something like a 1 hour trip by train.

What do you think, guys?

I found a link to some hiking paths close to the city, like this: http://www.wien.gv.at/english/leisure/hiking/stww8.htm

I have some friends who hike and mountain bike outside the city, I will check with them too!

There is also the Wien Rundumadum trail

The website is in German, but you can easily print out the maps.
It consist of 24 stages around Vienna, it goes from kahlenberg until the Lobau Area.

If you guys are planning a day to go hiking, let me know!
