My partner is pregnant (7 months) and not covered by any insurance policy. Do we have any course of action to receive insurance, or are we resigned to pay out of pocket (4000euro) for the birth.
I have read on this forum that pregnant women receive universal healthcare in vienna, up until the birth of the child, but I have been unable to find any information confirming this.
Any info most appreciated.

How did you resolve this in the end. We used a private hospital for the births of our children, single and a set of twins, but some was covered on my wife's private insurance.
Vienna is like an Ikea sofa - you know you should upgrade, but why bother when it is this comfortable.
