Hurray!

Post by bpc009 »

good luck with new ventures t.

though I must say I thought it was nearly impossible to get fired in Austria. I recall for example at a language school I know where they tried unsuccessfully to fire a German teacher for over a decade.

Hurray!

I had a boss in Germany who had two employees who were alcoholics and embezzling from the company to pay for their alcohol.

He was (not seriously) considering hiring a hit man to take them out, since the financial, legal and social repercussions would have been less of a problem, then simply firing them for cause.

So we go out to play softball today (forfeit, insufficient players, we lose again...thanks to all of you who expressed an interest, and are now finding other ways to spend your time.)

Anyway, we fielded enough for a pickup game instead, with one playing for us who was from the other team, and my 10yo (Max) standing in as catcher.

At one point, the bases were loaded and there was this lady up. I said, "Max, if she hits one and it ends up in front of the plate, wait until she runs by, then pick up the ball and step on home plate".

He indicated that he understood, and then as I turned back to the mound, he said (loud enough for EVERYONE to hear...'or, you could just strike her out, so I wouldn't have to worry about it'. Perfect dead-pan delivery, perfect comic timing.

Highlight of the day, it was.

i'm sitting on cushions on the sunny beach, after an early morning dive when a small shark and a sting ray said hello, now drinking juice, enjoying the breeze and slowly starting my work of the day. God, sometimes life is beatiful...

Hurray for the world cup.
It's so nice to see people everywhere uniting and celebrating ... amidst all the crappy no-goodoers.

Hurray for this golden thing in the sky for the rest of the week. Won't mention its name in case of jinx.

PM - you can use your pool again.

Hurray for Vienna-Expats being back! Missed you! I know, I know, it's been back awhile but I'm always late for everything. Thought for a while there I was going to be banished to FB forever.

Once used to the new look (I'm a little slow), it looks great, Very nice. You've done a mammoth task, Party Marty et al - hats off to you. Hello to all the new mods as well, you're doing a grand job as always.

Hurray for getting my energy back and being able to have a social life. 9 weeks of zombie living are over for now..
I'm just like every modern woman trying to have it all. A loving husband, a family. I only wish I had more time to seek out the dark forces and join their hellish crusade. That's all.
