Possibly the most polarising author I've ever read.

Enduring Love (best opening chapter ever?) and The Cement Garden I loved and found fluid and gripping throughout. Atonement and most recently On Chesil Beach caused me to scoff and gag at the pretentious and overly descriptive prose (although I enjoyed the movie Atonement), and eventuallygive up on, which is something I rarely do with books.

I wish more folk used this section of the forum. I love a good discussion.

I was out for dinner with someone yesterday, and he said he currently was reading Iain McEwan and enjoyed it very much, but he didnt say which book. I sall put him on my list of writers I want to read.
