Vienna Blood - UK/Austrian Co production

Post by morgenhund »

Has anyone else seen Vienna Blood? The first part was on just before Christmas on ORF2 and the entire three part series has been on BBC. Has anyone identified some of the locations used for filming?

Vienna is like an Ikea sofa - you know you should upgrade, but why bother when it is this comfortable.

I watched the three episodes recently. They filmed some of it around the corner from where I live in the 3rd (the old creepy looking house on Landstraßer-Hauptstraße, opposite Herz-Jesus Krankenhaus is Max's house). A bit of a mix between Sherlock and Babylon Berlin. The "Archive der Universität Wien" on Postgasse is the exterior of the police station and the interior I think is the Technical Museum. Some other scenes were filmed in Baden too and Schönleterngasse has a few appearences. I'm curious to know where the episode at the military academy was filmed. It was nice a series with a decent budget filmed here in English.

Thanks for that - I've only seen the episode that was on ORF2 just before Christmas. I wondered if the Billrothhaus near my office was used - they have had a lot of filmcrews in the last couple of years using it. I've pre-ordered the DVD from the UK (release date is 20 January) because there is no fixed date for episodes two and three on ORF.

Vienna Blood locations

Post by morgenhund »

Just watching the third episode of Vienna Blood (out on DVD in the UK, only the first episode has been shown in Austria) and trying to work out some of the locations

From the third episode I just identified:

Schloss Grafenegg is used for St Florian's.
Cafe Sperl is used.
Museumsquartier
